WORLD STROKE DAY – LOCAL FEDERAL MP SUPPORTS GREATER AWARENESS
The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP, said today that he asks locals to support efforts to raise awareness of strokes.
“The theme for World Stroke Day is Stroke is – what can I do? to be held on Thursday 29th October is part of the international awareness campaign individuals can take action in informing themselves more about strokes,” Mr Ruddock said.
Stroke is Australia’s second biggest killer and a leading cause of disability, costing the health system$2.14 billion every year.
“I urge locals to make themselves aware how to avoid a stroke by keeping fit and also visiting their healthcare providers regularly,” Philip Ruddock said.
The National Stroke Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that works with the public, government, health professionals, patients, carers and stroke survivors to reduce the impact of the stroke on the local community.
