2008 AUSTRALIAN STUDENT PRIZE – PRESENTATION OF CERTIFICATES
I was pleased to host a presentation ceremony for young Australians in the Berowra electorate who are winners of the Australian Student Prize for 2008.
“At the ceremony I presented certificates of excellence to these recent school leavers who were the winners of the Australian Student Prize for 2008,” Mr Ruddock said.
Australian Student Prizes are awarded annually across the country on the basis of recommendations from state and territory education ministers with 500 of the top students from 2008 who have been awarded this prestigious prize and will receive a certificate and $2,000 each.
The presentation ceremony celebrated the achievements of these students. Winners of these prizes are of the highest academic calibre and they are to be congratulated on their outstanding results.
As there is no nationally consistent scale for identifying the top students across all states and territories, number of prizes to each state and territory is allocated on a pro-rata basis according to the year 12 population. Local recipients who reside in the electorate are:
