NRMA Community Grants available
Local community groups should take a look at the NRMA 2010 Insurance Community Grants Program to see if they may be able to participate.
Federal Member for Berowra Philip Ruddock MP said grants from $500 to $5,000 can be applied for by groups undertaking projects in areas of crime prevention, road safety, emergency readiness and the environment.
Applications are open until 31st March and the announcement of successful applicants will take place in June.
‘Programs which seek to change behaviour on the road and reduce the likelihood and severity of road accidents are considered in the Road Safety Grants category.’
‘Under the heading of Emergency Readiness and Response category, programs which focus on creating awareness about the importance of preparation and response to incidents around the home will be considered.’
Mr Ruddock said specific details of what sort of programs can be considered and the forms needed to lodge an application can be obtained from local NRMA offices or by telephoning 1300 306 496.
‘I think the NRMA is to be commended for the support it is offering local community groups. As I understand it, since the scheme was initiated in 2003, some $4 million has been allocated to over 1,000 community projects throughout Australia.
