LOCAL GROUPS RECEIVE VOLUNTEER GRANTS

Eleven worthy local community groups have received funds from the Volunteer Grants 2010 program, local MP Philip Ruddock announced today.

‘I have received advice that over $40,000 has been approved locally.’

While acknowledging the amount is a modest one, Mr Ruddock said he was certain the grants would make a significant difference to the groups receiving them.

‘The Apex Berowra Club is receiving $5,000, the Combined Probus Club of West Pennant Hills $5,000, the 3rd Mount Colah Girl Guides $2,000 and Brooklyn Rural Fire Brigade will receive a grant of $1,379.’

Other groups receiving grants are the Australian Squash Group Ltd, the Australian Zoroastrian Association of NSW Inc, Bass Sydney Fishing Club Inc, the Lions Club of West Pennant Hills/Cherrybrook, the Lions Save Sight & Public Health Care Ltd and the Rotary Clubs of West Pennant Hills/Cherrybrook and Dural.

Mr Ruddock said throughout his years in public office his regard for those who give their time and energy willingly and selflessly to community-based organisations, has grown enormously.

‘Members of service clubs, sports clubs, children’s service groups and all who contribute to our community by way of their volunteer efforts deserve our acclaim and support.’
