HORNSBY SHIRE COUNCIL WINS MAJOR AWARD
Local MP Philip Ruddock was on hand today when Hornsby Shire Council won the Resource Recovery & Waste Management Award at the 2010 national Keep Australia Beautiful Sustainable Cities Awards.
The Awards ceremony, held at Canada Bay, attracted participants and guests from all over Australia.
Mr Ruddock said he was delighted to be able to congratulate the Council on what is an ‘extremely important award’.
Hornsby Shire Council has developed ‘Hornsby Shire 2020 : A Framework for a Sustainable Future’ which encompasses all of Council’s strategies and directions for achieving a sustainable Hornsby Shire into one document.
Sustainability is a massive issue for all cities as the world becomes more and more subject to urban growth.
