Volunteer Grants Announced
Four local organisations have been successful in receiving grants under the Federal government’s Volunteers Grants 2011.
Local MP Philip Ruddock said just over fourteen thousand dollars would be received by the four groups.
‘The Berowra Soccer Club will receive $3,000 which will help voluntary members run competitions and training programs.’
‘Volunteers from Nairana Community Services at Pennant Hills will receive $2,470 which will help with their work with disadvantaged members of the community.’
‘The Cherrybrook-based Muslim Women’s National Network of Australia Inc has been granted $4,950 which will be used to support a variety of services for women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. ‘
The final $3,751 has been provided to the Wiseman’s Ferry Sunshine Group Inc to help with their work in assisting older and isolated Australians and those with a disability.’
Mr Ruddock concluded by saying the work of volunteers is vital to the quality of life for so many within our community.
‘I salute those who give so generously of their time and encourage others to do so.’
