FEDERAL MP ACKNOWLEDGES LOCAL NSW RURAL FIRE SRVICE WORKERS
The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP said that the work carried out by local rural fire service staff and volunteers is to be applauded.
“The tremendous work that these men and women have done over the past week in particular is outstanding,” Mr Ruddock said.
“Over 150 fire crews were on the ground and when they weren’t fighting fires they were back-burning which is a mammoth task.
"I am informed that over 19 fire tankers from the RFS, 4 boats on the Hawkesbury River, 8 pumpers patrolling theF3, 50 crews from NSWFB and 6 helicopters were used to support fire crews on the ground."
The local area is always prone to bush fires and without these brave men and women the local residents and those people using the F3 would be severely affected.
“Thankfully there were no properties damaged which local residents were extremely grateful,” Philip Ruddock said.
Our thanks must go to Superintendent Angelo Baldo and his team at Galston’s NSW Rural Fire Service.
Community briefings are being held and there is also restricted access in certain areas.
