VOLUNTEER ORGANISATIONS ENCOURAGED TO APPLY FOR GRANTS
The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP today encouraged community organisations in his electorate of Berowra to apply for a share of the Australian Government’s Volunteer Small Equipment Grants (VSEG) 2007 program opening on May 25.
“The massive $66 million boost in funding for VSEG, announced in the Federal Budget, was in response to the increased demand on the popular program over recent years and the 2007 round of VSEG allows organisations to purchase equipment that supports the valuable work their volunteers carry out in our community,” Mr Ruddock said.
“Importantly, this year’s boost of funding has also seen an extension to the already popular program to include VSEG – Sport which allows community sporting organisations to apply for funding to support their sporting activities.
“VSEG and VSEG – Sport will allow organisations to apply for grants of up to $3,000 to purchase equipment that will assist their organisations carry out the important work they do in our community.
“Up to $18 million a year will allow for approximately 4,500 grants under VSEG and up to 2,500 grants through VSEG – Sport.
“I congratulate the Australian Government’s continued commitment to supporting local organisations which make a big contribution to our community,” Philip Ruddock said.
Applications close Friday 22 June 2007. From May 25 more information on VSEG 2007 or to obtain an online application form and guidelines visit the Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs website at www.facsia.gov.au or call 1800 183 374.
