BEROWRA RESIDENTS RECEIVE GREETINGS – OVER 100 LETTERS POSTED IN 2007
The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP said today that he sends out many birthday and anniversary messages to his electorate and has done so for over 34 years.
“It is important that people receive official anniversary messages celebrating a special birthday or wedding anniversary with personal congratulations from the Prime Minister, Governor-General or The Queen,” Mr Ruddock said.
In 2007 12 x 90th birthdays, and 23 x over 90s birthday messages and 17 x 100 birthday messages were sent to constituents. It is amazing to think in my own electorate there are 17 residents that have reach a hundred years of age.
“In the same time there were 72 wedding anniversary messages with 38 x 50th anniversary and 28 x 60th wedding anniversary messages, again a great tribute to so many long term marriages,” Philip Ruddock said.
The Prime Minister will send a message of congratulations to people turning 90 years of age or more. The Queen and Governor-General will send a message on a 100th birthday. On request, the Prime Minister and the Governor-General will write again every year and The Queen will write again every five years.
The Prime Minister and Governor-General send messages to couples celebrating 50 years of marriage and subsequent wedding anniversaries.
The Queen sends messages to couples celebrating 60 years of marriage and will write every five years after that on request. Messages from The Queen can be arranged for couples or individuals who did not receive a message on their 60th wedding anniversary or on their 100th birthday, as the case may be.
