ACTIVE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM - THREATENED UNDER LABOR

The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP, will host a presentation of the Australian Defence Medal for 3 local residents on Friday.

Two recipients: Gregory Whiter of Mount Kuring-gai and Paul Morris of Westleigh and a Mrs Petro (who is receiving a posthumous medal for late Lt Col. Niall Mustai Lane) will attend this small ceremony on Friday 28th March 2008.

Background:

Over one million Australians are eligible for the Australian Defence Medal. The establishment of the award was announced by the Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence Bruce Billson on 30 March 2006.

The medal was established to recognise ADF Regular and Reserve personnel who have demonstrated their service to the nation by serving four years or their initial enlistment period, whichever is the lesser, since the end of World War II. Both volunteers and national servicemen are eligible.

What: Presentation of Australian Defence Medals

Where: Level 3, 20 George Street, Hornsby (electorate office).

When: Friday 28th March 2008 – 3.30 p.m. – 4.30 p.m.

Who: Brigadier Mike Beinke will be representing the
Australian Defence Force
