PM FAILS TO REVERSE THE SOLAR PANEL MEANS TEST

The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP said that the Federal government failed to reverse the inexplicable capping of the $8,000 solar panel rebate.

“By capping availability for the rebate, local men and women on $51,000 each - middle income by any definition - are no longer able to access affordable solar energy,” Mr Ruddock said.

This announcement singularly fails to reverse the means test on solar panels or make any funding for desperately needed water infrastructure.

In his very first Budget the Prime Minister imposed a means test on the Coalition's solar panel rebate program with nothing provided in the coming year for his much-vaunted Renewable Energy Fund. Not a dollar.

“Mr Rudd knows that he has failed to deliver on his pre-election promises to support the renewable energy sector and this week missed the opportunity to announce funding for water infrastructure projects.

“It could have delivered a trifecta of rapid water savings, jobs, and investment in country Australia; and helping my constituents,” Philip Ruddock said.
