PLAYGROUP BRINGS FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES TOGETHER
The Federal Member for Philip Ruddock MP, welcomes National Playgroup Week 2009 from the 22nd-28th March 2009 where the theme this year is “Playgroup: bringing families together”.
“Playgroups are an important opportunity for positive early childhood development enabling children to have the best chance to learn, grow and have fun, while providing support to parents as well” Mr Ruddock said.
“I know with my own daughter and grand-daughter, particularly when our granddaughter was a baby, how much enjoyment they received in their playgroup where they live in inner western Sydney.”
Over 100,000 families and 145,000 children attend thousands of playgroups across Australia each week.
While in Government the Coalition proudly supported playgroups, and in 2007 announced autism specific playgroups for families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
“Playgroup is a wonderful opportunity to get together with other parents in a relaxed environment, in a space where children can play safely. With nearly 10,000 playgroups across Australia, there really is something for everyone – and if there isn’t one that suits your needs, you may like to start your own” Philip Ruddock said.
