LEST WE FORGET
The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP said ANZAC Day, 25th April, marks an important day in the nation’s history and is an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifice, bravery and spirit of those who lost their lives, those who served and returned and those currently serving in conflict and peacekeeping missions.
“The ANZAC spirit that was evident at Gallipoli will be strongly felt today as Australians attend local services to commemorate this special occasion,” Mr Ruddock said.
ANZAC forces landed at Gallipoli on 25 April, 1915, and met with fierce resistance; signalling the start of a bloody campaign that was to last over eight months.
“As we pay tribute to those we have lost, we honour the unique character of our nation’s brave men and women who gave their all in the name of this great country,” Philip Ruddock said.
“We will never forget their sacrifice.
“I encourage all constituents and their families to participate in ANZAC Day commemorations; to truly feel the spirit of the ANZACS and gain an insight into what their sacrifice meant.
“I know that so many thousands of constituents have had relatives die in the wars serving their country,” Mr Ruddock said.
