LOCAL SUBURBS TO MISS OUT ON LABOR’S FAST BROADBAND

Five suburbs in my electorate are specifically excluded from Labor’s fast broadband commitment. Brooklyn; Cowan; Dangar Island; parts of Glenorie; Kenthurst; and down to Wiseman’s Ferry will miss out. That means nearly 4,000 constituents will not benefit from Labor’s new broadband announcement AND another 1.5 million Australians will also be disappointed because Labor has said that its fast network will only extend to 90 percent of Australians. It is obvious that all of those abandoned in Labor’s new plan will come from regional Australia or in my electorate more remote areas particularly down towards the Hawkesbury River.

Given that the Government plans to take eight years to build its network, constituents will again have to wait! This is just not good enough!

What do you think?

What could they do better? How do you propose that they provide this service more quickly? Is there a plan to eventually provide fast broadband to difficult to reach regions? Logically thinking, remote regions will require more built infrastructure which would take more time.
I am interested in your point of view, but you do not provide much detail.
Why is their proposed plan not good enough?

Promising broadband to more than 90% of the Australian population was a populist propaganda stunt. The lying of optical fibre across Australia to major country towns will be a massive and expensive undertaking. The only way to quickly provide access to remote locations at low cost is the use of wireless. For rural remote locations stationary satellites are the only option. Forget about high speed data transmission to areas not currently served - any speed that is reliable is preferable to waiting years.
High speed transmission is not available now in Berowra due to cross talk and a reliable telephone service is not available in Carlingford. What chance does "the
bush" have in getting any speed that is reliable when the existing network fails to function?
