DEEP REGRET OVER TELETECH’S REDUNDANCIES AT PENNANT HILLS

The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP said today that he was disturbed to hear that TeleTech is retrenching staff and indeed closing their office in Pennant Hills.
“TeleTech is located in the building where my electorate office is situated and on the 26 May 2009, Centrelink notified the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations that Teletech would be making 173 staff redundant in Pennant Hills,” Mr Ruddock said.

“The redundancies, which are scheduled to take place by Friday 29 May 2009, will affect approximately 156 full time staff and 17 part time staff.

“The redundancies have been attributed to the program (managed by TeleTech) moving off shore – TeleTech is a US based company.

“I am informed that the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations has made contact with the company to offer information about Job Services Australia assistance and on-site information sessions to workers if required

“Certainly I have been in contact with TeleTech managers to ensure that the staff are aware of their rights and it is deeply regretted that these men and women are losing their jobs in a tight economic climate.

“I feel deeply for the staff who will find it difficult to find jobs in a tight and competitive industry,” Philip Ruddock said.

For further information regarding TeleTech contact may be made with Deborah Ballard on 9844 1860.
