LOCAL VOLUNTEER GRANTS

The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP said that two organisations received funding under the Volunteer Small Equipment Grants 2009.

Beecroft Probus Club received $5,000 for a grant to advance intellectual and cultural interests among older members of the community. The Beecroft Probus Club organises regular meetings and a variety of activities that encourage seniors of all abilities to socialise and share common interests.

Brooklyn United Soccer Club received $2,600 for a grant as it is the only sporting club in the community and provides opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to participate in recreational and competitive soccer. Volunteers assist with various aspects of the Club including fundraising and organising community events.

“I congratulate the members of these organisations and know how much they will appreciate these grants,” Mr Ruddock said.

“The Volunteer Small Equipment Grants scheme provides up to $5,000 to volunteering groups and goes a long way to make their valuable work easier, safer and more enjoyable,” Philip Ruddock said.
