COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF NORTH WESTERN SYDNEY RECEIVES FUNDING BOOST
Local State and Federal MP’s joined the gathering at the Baulkham Hills Sports Club for the cheque presentation by the Bankstown Sports Club to the Community Foundation of North Western Sydney.
An independent, not for profit charitable organisation, the Foundation assists people in the region in crisis, and those who are socially isolated.
The generous grant of $60,000 will help specifically with the Foundation’s ‘Bridging the Gap’ program through which disadvantaged youth are assisted with the cost of necessary sports equipment and fees.
It was mentioned that while The Hills is seen by most as an affluent area, the fact is that 22% of locals are in need, at one time or another, of financial assistance.
Federal Members Philip Ruddock and Alex Hawke, State MP’s Wayne Merton and Michael Richardson mingled with Foundation dignitaries, Club Board members and many of the Foundation’s sponsors, volunteers and supporters at the morning tea event held on Wednesday 4th August.
