SETTLEMENT GRANTS OF $235,300 FOR LOCAL AREA
The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP said that the Australian Government will spend $235,300 on a range of services designed in his electorate of Berowra to help refugees and other migrants integrate into mainstream Australia.
“The Settlement Grants Programme (SGP) funding will help migrants and refugees build practical skills to allow them connect to the Australian community, such as obtaining a driver’s licence and learn the road rules, access medical services, and help their children succeed in school,” Mr Ruddock said.
Local Grants:
Funding to the Cherrybrook Chinese Community Association for development and integration services to newly arrived Chinese will help establish links within the wider community has been announced at $72,000.
Funding to Migrantlink Australia for three (3) local programmes for the development and integration services to newly arrivals including women has been announced at $235,300.
‘It is important migrants and refugees quickly develop a general understanding of the Australian community and its values so they can integrate quickly to make the most of the opportunities available in Australia,’ Philip Ruddock said.
These grants were also provided to help new and emerging communities establish themselves, build mutual assistance and participate in the wider community.
