HORNSBY COUNCIL WINS A COMMENDATION IN NATIONAL AWARDS
The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP congratulated Hornsby Shire Council on winning an award in the COMMENDATION category in the 2007 National Awards for Local Government for Working with the Community: Positive Ageing in Hornsby Shire.
“I congratulate the Hornsby Shire Council and its staff for winning a commendation in the prestigious National Awards. They have done a great job and made us all proud,” Mr Ruddock said.
There were 287 entries from all around Australia and Hornsby Council won a commendation in one of the 15 categories.
The National Awards for Local Government have been going since 1986. They are only awarded to councils for projects that are judged by experts to be the best or most innovative in their field.
The National Awards also promotes the councils and projects to other councils around Australia so that local government capacity is built up around the country.
“This commendation from the National Awards, acknowledges the quality of the project and the role played by Hornsby Shire Council in increasing the capacity building of Australia’s local government,” Philip Ruddock said.
