THE VOLUNTEEER SMALL GRANTS PROGRAM 2008

The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP called for all Volunteer Organisations in his electorate to make applications under the $21 million Volunteer Grants Program 2008.

“Every day, volunteers across the country are out in our community giving their time and energy to help the elderly, people with disabilities, children at risk, the homeless and those who have hit hard times,” Mr Ruddock said.

“Funding of between $1,000 and $5,000 is available to eligible not-for-profit organisations to purchase small equipment – things like computers, air conditioners, mowers and sporting items used by volunteers. Grants are also available to community organisations to help volunteers with fuel costs because one of their greatest costs can be putting petrol into their cars to transport others around.”

Application guidelines and forms are available from the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs at www.fahcesia.gov.au or by calling the toll-free hotline on 1800 183 374. Applications will close on Friday 17th October 2008.
