2009 AUSTRALIA DAY MESSAGE
The Member for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP has encouraged all local residents to join in celebrations for Australia Day on Monday 26th January 2009.
“Australians have much to celebrate and be proud of on our national day and I will be attending as usual Australia Day functions at Hornsby Council in the morning and Baulkham Hills Council in the afternoon,” Mr Ruddock said.
“In my electorate we have such diversity with so many cultures, acknowledging our freedom and democracy and our belief in an Aussie fair go.
“Australia Day is a time to look to the future and consider the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead and how we can make the most of them. Our nation is known for its drive and compassion and these characteristics will help to sustain constituents through the difficult times many are experiencing.
"Australians have the benefit of a peaceful nation and a generosity of spirit is evident when people respond in times of trouble and to ease to the troubled needs of people in this country and overseas.
"We must not take our future for granted and we must continue to be vigilant and to build on our fine traditions.
“I encourage everyone to participate in the celebrations and join me at 9.00 a.m. at Hornsby Shire Council’s Australia Day function at Pennant Hills Community Centre or at 2.00 p.m. at Baulkham Hills Shire Council’s function at The Hills Centre Carrington Road, Castle Hill,” Philip Ruddock said.
