The Member for Berowra Philip Ruddock MP thanks the Chinese community, whom he continually works closely with, for their generosity in donating $300,000 to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
“The Executive Director of Red Cross NSW - Lewis Kaplan will accept this donation at the luncheon to help the Victorian Bush Fire Appeal,” Mr Ruddock said.
“As well, my Federal colleague Russell Broadbent MP will attend this luncheon arriving from his electorate of McMillan (Victoria) where there were major fires at Bunyip Ridge which destroyed many farmlands, hundreds of buildings and threatened over a dozen small communities in the area. The hardest hit area – Labertouche - suffered very heavy stock losses and major pastures destroyed, includes hectares of damaged fencing.
“This donation of $300,000 has been generously given by the Australian Chinese community and I acknowledge the organising committee: Hudson Chen OAM, Dr Peter Wong, Benjamin Chow AO and Monica Chu, Katie Young OAM and their team, including the local Chinese Media and seven Chinese Lions Clubs,” Philip Ruddock said.
